Abstract Instructions

Please describe your work related to our sacred stewardship in caring for those in need. The submitted description should be 750 words or less.

Here are some things you may consider including in your abstract:

  • What is the need your project addresses?
  • What is the significance of the need?
  • Who are the people or communities affected?
  • How does your scholarship seek to address this need?
  • What region does your scholarship focus on, if applicable?
  • What makes you and/or BYU uniquely qualified for this  work?
  • How is the work being funded?
  • What are your project results to date?
  • What are your future plans in this area?

I. Health and Human Flourishing: child nutrition; maternal and newborn care; immunization(s); water, sanitation, and hygiene; health care and mobility; feeding the hungry; mental health and trauma support; innovations intended to disrupt causes of human suffering; other category to support health and human flourishing

II. Development and Sustainability: emergency relief and disaster response; education; employment and livelihood development; environmental stewardship; housing support; self-reliance and economic empowerment; peace, governance, and strong institutions; other development and sustainable innovations to care for those in need

Conference Participation

The questions below relate to your interest in participating in the For the Benefit of the World: Our Sacred Stewardship to Care for Those in Need faculty conference on November 14, 2025.

Note that while conference participation is invited and encouraged, attendance is not required for your abstract to be included in the BYU report on the state of research in this area.

Poster Information

Poster Submission

  • Printed posters are due at the Kennedy Center (237 HRCB) by 5:00 p.m. on November 7, 2025.

Size & Layout

  • 44" wide × 33" high (landscape) — sized to allow two posters per 4' × 8' board.
  • Minimum font size: 24 pt (use larger sizes for body text and headings).
  • Images: ≥300 dpi for clear printing.

Delivery & Display

  • Deliver printed posters to the Kennedy Center (237 HRCB) by 5:00 p.m. on November 7, 2025.
  • Posters will be set up for one of two morning sessions on November 14, 2025.

One-Poster Policy

  • One poster per faculty member. If you submitted multiple abstracts, please choose one of the following:
    • Present one topic;
    • Combine multiple topics into a single poster; or
    • If co-authored with other faculty, have another faculty co-author present an additional poster (maintaining one professor per poster).
  • All abstracts will be included in the data-collection exercise; the one-poster limit applies only to in-person presentation.

  • PowerPoint: Design → Slide Size → Custom Slide Size → set Width 44" and Height 33" (4:3 aspect ratio).
